Fukafe – Vegan Food and Specialty Coffee in Gdańsk
Fukafe is a great place for vegans, Specialty coffee lovers and those who enjoy unique, polish design. It is definitely one of the “Must See” places in Gdańsk.
We visit TriCity pretty often. I will not hide that Gdańsk could be my second home. That is why we are so happy to see, that FINALLY not only typical, touristic restaurants serving fish or pork chops are opening in TriCity, but also more and more places with passion, soul, a good idea and great food. Fukafe is one of them.
Walking by the renewed Wajdeloty Street in Wrzeszcz district, we came across a café, which attracted us straight from the street with something unspecified. Well, this “unspecified” could have been a sign on the window, “Vegan Coffee Freaks”. Maybe we are not Vegans, but coffee freaks for sure.
And that was it. Positive impression straight from the entrance. First, what stands out is the original interior. Pink deer standing on a large, shared table, very original wooden bar, walls dilapidated on purpose, showing the old plaster, wooden planks decorating one of the walls, or chessboard floor. Apart of that the owner took care of accessories that make it a unique place with character – it is full of Christmas lights, images and graphics made by local artists.
Fukafe is a vegan coffee shop, so you can expect a fridge full of sweets. And this is another thing that positively surprised us. Large selection of cakes, whose appearance causes huge problems with the decision, and of course the taste. We tried a carrot cake with salty peanut butter and popcorn, and a plum pie.
Specialty coffee has also its place here. We can choose from brewing coffee, aeropress or Nitro coffee, which is a cold brew “gasified” nitrogen which is still new on the polish market.
